WE ARE NOW OPEN SATURDAYS

Award-winning Topaz Café in Ashton-u-Lyne has justifiably built a fantastic reputation locally and regionally. The food is sensational and the café provides a comfortable and friendly meeting place and focus for local events for the Ashton-u-Lyne community, as well as providing a gateway to our other services.

The nutritious food is the talk of the town and Head Chef Kevin and his talented and friendly team are consistently delivering high standards of menu innovation and contemporary presentation. Simply put, this is seriously good and affordable food that would give any leading veggie restaurant a run for its money. A hearty, healthy lunch is typically priced between £3 and £5 – and you’ll have had most of your 5 a day in the process! There’s also free Wi-Fi and Internet access with a few PCs dotted around for visitors to use.

What’s more, Topaz Café is run as a social enterprise which means that all our modest profits are reinvested into our other well-being services such as counselling, creative workshops, courses and activities that are helpful in building confidence and self-esteem.

Topaz Café is consistently busy Monday to Friday and we enjoy a great reputation locally. On offer is a tempting selection of innovative veggie meals , fair-trade teas, coffees and sandwiches using locally sourced or organic ingredients where possible.  You can access some of our really popular recipies here

We’re child and baby friendly too with nappy-changing facilities and high chairs available.

OUR CHEFS

Who’s in the kitchen? Kevin, our café chef manager, originally completed his apprenticeship at a world renown restaurant in London before running a series of successful vegetarian eateries in the Midlands. He has a passion for tasty healthy food that shines through all of his cooking. Ian spent 15 years cooking as a keen amateur and then decided to take the plunge and started his own business. As a vegan he has a passion for creating interesting dishes which he brings to his role as part-time assistant chef. Surinder from Delhi is the other half of the assistant chef role. He trained at Tameside College. Originally a café volunteer, he brings his international vegetarian cooking to the café. Dam is our café and kitchen assistant. Originally from The Gambia, he brings his customer service skills from his work back in Africa. Volunteers are also key to the café team, bringing their talent as well as gaining experience in working in a vegetarian café.

IMPORTANT NOTE

We’re able to cater for food preferences and intolerances. Just speak to our chefs. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that our kitchen is nut, wheat or dairy-free.
