Tameside Oldham and Glossop Mind

Testimonials

I am a 29 year old Pakistani man living in Tameside. I came and used the counselling service during 2008. This really helped me deal with previous issues in my life. During 2010, I joined up to a confidence and assertiveness course as I wanted to learnt about how to state my point of view to other people, to stop agreeing to things that I didn’t want to do and to stop feeling bad about saying no. The course really helped me with these things and I was able to change how I communicate with people more positively.

Having gained so much from the counselling and the course at the Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind Topaz well-being centre, I wanted to give something back to the organisation and have recently been accepted as a volunteer at the centre. Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind are providing a great service to the community and I am pleased to be part of the organisation.

It gives me great pleasure to write this recommendation for Tameside Mind well-being centre and Topaz café.  It is an oasis of calm and gorgeous food in an increasingly difficult world.  I use the café on a regular basis and as a vegetarian of 30 years I cannot recommend it highly enough.  The food is imaginative and well balanced and more importantly tastes great and is very reasonably priced.  The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the background music is great.

There is a diverse and wide range of workshops, courses and activities on offer.  I was able to take part in 2 fantastic singing workshops which really helped me through a very difficult time in my life.  The centre is totally accessible, warm and really does make you feel better when you visit.  I have taken many friends and colleagues there for lunch, coffee and cake and we all agree it’s the best!!!!   I hope it goes from strength to strength because we really do need this valuable service in Ashton-u-Lyne.
