Laura ALLOTMENT CO-ORDINATOR
Hey, I’m Laura, the Allotment Co-ordinator. I run our well-being allotment in Gee Cross, and organise our other outdoor activities like the Allotment Taskforce and our links with other gardening and woodland groups. Everyone is welcome to join us for a bit of fresh air and gardening, so take a look on the ‘Services’ page to find out more about what’s on offer. I first got fired up about growing vegetables when I stayed and worked with farmers and smallholders through the ‘Worldwide Work on Organic Farms’ scheme. Since then I have learned through trial and error (with lots of error!), and through working with other enthusiastic amateurs. It’s been great getting to spend so much time outdoors, and I am increasingly fascinated by the circles of life that you get to see when you work in a garden all year round. I’ve lived in the Manchester area for seven years. Previously, I’ve worked in bars, call centres and in the head office of a bank, so this role is a very welcome change and an exciting new adventure for me. |
