Richard CHIEF EXECUTIVE I have been involved in the management of mental health and social care for almost 25 years, having first begun when the old asylums were being closed down and the advent of community care. During my career I have managed a Psychiatric Rehab Unit, been a Registered Care Manager and run an Assertive Outreach Team. I came to Tameside Oldham and Glossop Mind in 2000 when it was a much smaller affair offering a traditional day centre and a limited counselling service. It has been an exciting journey taking the organisation from those modest beginnings to what is now well regarded as an innovative and forward thinking well-being service. In addition to leading the organisation I am also very involved with National Mind and sit on a number of development groups. I would like to think that this reflects what we have achieved here. Customers and clients frequently remark on the nice feel the organisation has and how friendly the workers are. Similarly worker turn-over and sickness are low. So if there is one thing I would say I am especially proud of achieving here it is a healthy space for everyone. Outside of work I enjoy exploring mountains, cooking and listening to music ranging from Abba to Frank Zappa. And of course, there is dd to look after… |

dd - sSpringer Spaniel Hi there, My name is dd and I am an English Springer Spaniel hunting dog. Many people think we are called ‘springers’ because we are bouncy and full of energy but in fact it is because we have been bred to sniff out and spring (raise) game birds out of the hedgerows and moors and into the sky. I moved up from Devon when I was eight weeks old to live with Richard in the Peak District and haven’t looked back. Monday to Friday I normally start the day with a cross-country run to say hello to my friends, the rabbits, before commuting by train and towpath to the office. I tend to have a leisurely day combining lying on my bed or gnawing on a chew with popping out to say hello to regular friends and new visitors alike. So if you are at the first floor reception please ask to say hello to me but bear in mind that the open office is a working area so I will come over to you, not the other way round. I especially like my ears stoked or my tummy gently rubbed. At the end of the day I usually manage to get a few more miles in, and a bit more mud on, before going home to wash the cats with my tongue, have dinner (maybe roast chicken or a nice bit of steamed fish) before curling up on the sofa. On my days off I enjoy walking, running, swimming, springing, walking, running, swimming, springing, walking… As they say, it’s a dogs life, dd Linked below are the senior management team members that drive forward the the various functions of the organisation.
